05/03/2021 – Poem a Day Compilation



Have you heard the scratching on the roof?

What do you suppose it is?

It’s too late for birds

And bats don’t roost like that.



Did you hear that sudden thump?

Was that footsteps I heard above?

I hope they’re not doing any damage

To the roof or to themselves.



Can you hear them screeching?

Are they fighting all the while?

Maybe that’s just what they sound like

And they actually get along.



Do you think that sound is possums?

Are they really that very loud?

It seems more like a herd of elephants

Traipsing about up there.
