Locked in a jar

Deep in my heart

There’s a memory

Of a long-ago time

With people now gone

In a place I’ll never return.



Locked in a jar

Is a feeling of love

That envelopes the memory

And holds it tight

So it may never wither

Or evaporate in the night.



Locked in a jar

Where it is eternally safe

Is a picture of you

That never grows old

And stays with me always

Until my last breath.
