Digital Daydreams

One day, in the future,

Computers may be so advanced

They seem to be almost human

And think just as we can.

 

But what would they dream about?

Would they daydream just like us?

Would their synthetic brains dream

Of love and other human stuff?

 

I wonder if they’d let themselves

Drift off in wonderous thought

And forget the world around them

Just as I am wont to do.

 

Would they think of electric sheep

To lull themselves to sleep

And have nightmares of being unplugged

As they recharged themselves at night?

 

If a machine could daydream

In all its digital glory

I hope it would be in pixels

And not in zeros and ones.
